One way they and we can be destroyed is by thinking life is just “business as usual.” Things change in life and we must be aware of the changes and make necessary adjustments. Reading the letters means little except I knew the two who wrote them. I have a box of letters between an uncle and his wife during WWII. Scripture leads us to the One from whom it originated. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)ġ6 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Through it, as Paul stated, we are made complete for our tasks. The reality of the word of God is that it is applicable in all areas of life. Here Jesus equates the word of God with truth. In Jesus’ high priestly prayer He mentioned “truth.” In John 17:17 (ESV) He said:ġ7 Sanctify them in the truth your word is truth. They lacked knowledge of the Scriptures.Let’s consider the levels of knowledge that they lacked and apply them to us. The nation of Israel forgot their God they lost knowledge of Him. Yet, without knowledge the scripture says we will perish. We live out what we know from deep within. “Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.” 2 Timothy 3:16 The Message.6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge Īnd since you have forgotten the law of your God, ![]() Heavenly Father, we pray for knowledge and understanding of your Word in the areas of our life we suffer from lack of knowledge, in Jesus Name we pray. Yet it’s the truth that brings freedom when we receive and embrace it in our lives. They don’t want to know the truth because of the demand it will place upon their life. There are those who reject the knowledge of God because they refuse to change. Lack of knowledge is one thing, but rejecting knowledge is another. None of us deserve God’s love, but receiving the revelation of the knowledge of God’s love and not rejecting it will result in salvation not destruction. Rejecting Hosea’s love caused her to go astray, maybe because she didn’t think she deserved his love. Lack of knowledge of the truth of God’s love for us is the most detrimental which is what Gomer needed to understand and receive in her life. Lack of knowledge can be viewed as willful ignorance with a destructive consequence. Lack of knowledge of the truth is a plague that has kept people from experiencing God’s best in their lives. Jesus sated boldly in John 8:32 that knowing the truth would set us free. What we don’t know can cause hurt and destruction and what we do know can avoid hurt and destruction. As long as a person continues to reject the Word they will suffer from lack of knowledge which will potentially lead to destruction. The principle applies to life in general but lack of knowledge of God’s Word is the most costly. The reference is pertaining to rejecting the knowledge of God’s Word. Unfortunately God’s people suffer destruction because of lack of knowledge. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” Hosea 4:6 ESV “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. ![]()
